Christmas Eve

Here almost the whole family.

It was a wonderful Christmas night - we sang for my mom and for Bertram (Kristina and Melanie brought beautiful songs...), I had tears in my eyes... "Grandma loves Grandpa" - any other day, I would say it is kitschy - but this one evening it was just wonderful......

And after dinner, Melanie was busy with her Barbies (and did not allow me to change their clothes!!!), and Kristina, Regina and myself were busy putting together the huge Playmobil house with about 5 separate rooms (in the time my sisters put together 2 rooms each, I was still busy with the kitchen... And still had some pieces over - no idea where they belong... Does not matter - put everything in the fridge!!! :))

Merry X-MAS!!!

First, I met Alex. Unbelievable - it took us 5 months (last time, we saw each other on my birthday) to meet... in Cologne!

He promised me the rights for his biography in 50 years... He is one of the greatest people I have ever met!!!

Well, after coming back home, I had to put on this marvellous hut... Thank you mama for buying it for all of us! :) Why actually did my both sisters not put this staff on??? Like in childhood, the eldest has to go through... heehee

La répétition

Et voila, here is Francois :)

The concert will be great, I was amazed and loughed like crazy during the repetition last Saturday, in Francois house in Noisy!

No time to write more - tomorrow is the last working day. Move on Saturday... I am still wondering if and how all this gonna work - Ilona's chaos in perfection :)))

Anniversaire

It was a surprise... I love Sylvain, his help was great! Dimitri did not know anything about me coming to Paris on our anniversary :)

Landed in Paris on time @ 07:45 (yep, in the morning!!!). One (almost business) rdvz... Museum... Portrait Exhibition in Grand Palais (oh I love museums!!!) and a tattle with Marie-Josee. We chose different business schools, and the approaches are so different, and each of us is happy :) In between - readings on "Managing Oneself"... Dear, there are so many things to learn...

Had time until 6 p.m. The surprise was perfect, Dimitri did not anticipate anything. We had much much fun!

Guinea Pig! ;o)

Would Master Scotti be proud of me? Even before my training plan was finished, I started...

Wednesday - 1 hr 10' run
Thursday - eating only (I brought cote de boeuf from Paris, and cooked it for my friends), dinner for six
Friday - 40' run
Saturday - swimming pool. 2x15' swimming and 1/2 hour of water gym... That was an experience! Well, it was not a usual swimming pool - a spa in Stuttgart (I saw no families with kids!!! And this is almost impossible in swimming!!!). Anyway, the gym is every hour, and you have to pay extra, and not where it is and so on bla bla... So a good old guy told me where to go how much to pay and the whole procedure. I did. And then I came back to the pool. And... Oh my God! All others were far over 60! So welcome to the 70+ club Ilona! And the old nice guy who explained me everythig before kept staring at me and smiling! Well grandpa :))) I highly appreciate... OK, enough!
Sunday (today) - 1/2 hr swimming (without break!). Before, it took me about 5 minutes to get into this cool prickeling mineral water (22 degrees). And (if it' truth that the pool has 70 meters) I did 1,5 km!!! gggggggggg

Les Vacances

I had whole week of vacation - well "out of office" would be more precise...

No fun going to Normandie if it is raining... So we decided to visit my very good very old friend Michel - and his cave...

Really important things...

... Forget all the exercises, all the exams - I spent three hours (no I lie - 2hrs 55 mins) with Tom - and he was allowed to experiment! Doesn't look that bad, what do you think?

Thousand kisses to Tom!

P.S. No idea what Tom is doing? Look at my hair and guess!!!

Birthday Part 2 - Geburtstag

Wednesday, July 26, 2004

A small celebration in my favorite coctail bar in Stuttgart (the best!!!)

Birthday Part1 - Anniversaire

Monday, July 24, 2006

Feel like writing again - I am in the train for over 5 hours now - and hope to get to Stuttgart close after midnight.

The battery of my notebook was empty after 2 hours, so after cleaning up my address book on the phone (madamme perfectioniste) and being bored for a while doing nothing, I discovered my old travel notes (Vietnam, last summer) on the phone. Wow, was cooooool!!! I felt like if it was yesterday, funny funny! OK before the battery of my phone is empty :))) It was (and going to be by the way) the most crazy birthday I've ever had :) First, I changed the whole planning at least three times (God thanks you are allowed to do such things in private life *hihi*). Stuttgart or Paris and when and how... Anyway, I went for partying in Paris on 24th (actually 23d night - the only possible) and Stuttgart on 25th and 26th....

Saturday, 22nd...

42 degrees in Paris, Dimitri decided to go to his mom's place in Noisy... Idyllic place, and we made the evening a little bit crazy - our dinner was a paella and chicken wings from supermarket :))))...

He looked a bit surprised as I told him I must attend a call at 5 on Sunday, but he took it as a gentleman and the only thing I had to "cook" for my Birthday party was the fruit salad :).

Sunday, 23d...

Oh it was "marvelous" (as my French friends would say). We were at Sylvain's mom's place (a huge flat with the huge garden, middle in Paris!) and just 8:

Marco was there already as we arrived. His dark eyes looked tired, his teint almost white - he definitely spent too many hours in front of the computer - he anyway was at his notebook as we left on Saturday and was almost in same position yesterday (I don't want to make assumptions if he worked or skyped ;)) 3 days beard made him look a little bit dangerous :)

Stephan came very punctually :)... Cut his hair b'cause of the job... And asked me again how I prefer his hair. My answer was same (long: then he looks like a paintist... I assume his boss has something against a pilot of a private jet looking like an artist).

Alex - the eldest friend of Dimitri... A tough woman... "La perfection de tort n'exstait pas" - hummm... I definitely did my best to follow the discussion :). She came from Nice for the weekend. Our young sweet Marco (he's only 27) looked charmed.

Ana and Bruno, I think they know me longest (well except Sylvain). Relaxed, with the beautiful teint after a week vacation... Was great to see them again, and we quickly changed the sitting order (established a "girl's corner" with Alex, even if it didn't last long ;o)) I will wear their present from now on.

Sylvain came as last... His birthday present was a "Concert pour Ilona"... V e r y romantical, so great: Sylvain at the piano, we chose the songs (the start was "Le petit Chauvier", and the end - my v e r y favorite one "Le Mysogyne"). We all were singing with him (even Alex, although she never heard the songs before, and even me who doesn't understand the half of the text :)) Oh Augenblick, verweile... Close past 2 a.m., we went home...

Of course same way as we came - by scooter. Brrrr!!!... Feel cold just thinking of that!..

July 17th...

... and Great Britain went live!

1. Our days...
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs :) - please count! *hihi*

2. Our nights...

3. THE day... After conference call and the "Go" on Sunday, the 16th - our first meal that we did not buy at Sainsburry's after 11 p.m.

... Still exhausted...

Sunday, July 09, 2006

...Ragnar's wedding was great! Guys from Miami came to a village close to Frankfurt to celebrate!!! COOOOOL!!!

It took us 3 hours to get there - so I read a case, on a 3hrs way back, worked on my computer...

Felt asleep somewhen after midnight.

Slept out the first time since begin of June - I didn't put on the alarm clock and had almost 8 hrs sleep!!! Is this not gorgeous? ;o))))

Here finally some pics from Barcelona (it was the opening coctail :))

Scooter!!!

Sunday, July 02, 2006

Oh I loved it!

Another great weekend in Paris (thanks God I still have Lufthansa miles for spending them ;)). Yesterday, Dimitri rented a scooter, so we did a kind of sightseeing tour. Genious - you don't worry about traffic, neither about parking (those who had ever driven a car in Paris would understand...), just stop wherever you would like to have a break and go whenever you feel like... A kind of freedom (including overtaking all the cars at the traffic light, sometimes take the trottoir), I'd love to live somewhere in Italy, Spain or France where the weather allows you to use those cude things!

In the evening, we had a soiree with about 10-15 people watching the football game. Got wet afterwards (Emma was somehow a little bit angry with Dimitri, so him, the scooter, Olivier - who left with us - and me - another innocent victim - were at least partially wet. Thanks God it was plain water and summer ;o)). Actually, guys wanted to go to Champs-Elysees... We tried it from Arc de Triumph, then from Concorde, gave up after circling around, driving crowded sidewalks... Paris was crazy!!! At 1:30 in the morning, the whole city was one single traffic jam, I had a feeling everybody was on the street, and you saw the flags of France, Portugal, Maroc, Turkey... Completely drunk crazy tourists were standing in the middle of the street and celebrated with French... People were standing and dancing on the vans, those who did not have luck to sit in a cabriolet just opened the windows and set out blowing a French flag...

*****
Another scooter tour today (after a long long brunch), this time we went to Enghien, had a walk along the lake, then took the pedalos - I remember my school time (hihi). Met up with Bruno and Anna in Marais. That would be worth of a picture: have you ever transported a suitcase and computer bag with a small cude scooter? If not, I can give you a phone number where to get advise ;o)))). Had a drink and nice conversation with the guys and finally left... My plain...

Too late, going to bed. Good night! :-*

Barcelona...

I still don't feel like writing much... Excited, exhausted...
I stole for you one pic from Scotti ;), will write more next days

Stuttgart and World Championship Fever - Saturday, June 24, 2006

Love and Separation... - Wednesday, June 07, 2006

... actually, it is called "Lyubov' i razluka" - it is a famous Russian song... What would you write if your best friend would be leaving?

Thousands of kilometers away, Tokyo...

Don't want to write anything...

911 Cabriolet... - Tuesday, June 6, 2006

... yes, I had this one for the long weekend! Can you imagine how I jumped and cheered as I got it!!!!!!!!!!

And the balance is 1.899 km - oui! Stuttgart - Cologne (I loved to see my mom and Bertram again!!!), Cologne - Paris (I arrived about midnight) on the 2nd, Paris - Cologne - Stuttgart on the 5th...

I love driving, and I love speed. "If everything is under control you're just not driving fast enough" - somehow, it suits to me. So I loved to be on the road, like the truck driver - hihi

A late wakeup after the late (got to the apartment long after midnight) arrival in Paris... A trip to a country side, a trial of a walk (well, not a long one) in the little sweet forrest park not far away from Paris. My feet were aching (too much sport a week ago, they actually still are), so I felt like a mermaid... Then the evening and the dinner in the little nice restaurant on Montmartre.

On Sunday, I had enough time to finish my learnings for Barcelona, so we met up in the evening at Sylvains mom's place. Wow... That was great - Sylvain at the piano, we all enjoying his play and his voice... (and after that, we enjoyed the dinner his mom and girlfriend prepared)...On Monday morning, I finally left in direction Cologne (guys had a very important concert in the evening, and there were some preparations to do - so I left them with their work). By the way, here is the homepage of Cecilia - the main artist of the Monday's show: http://ceciliacara.digitallmajor.com/.

Donde estas and Fever are myfavorites :)...

Maite did so many great pictures - I'm looking forward to get them !!!

Chocolat - Sunday, May 28, 2006

Do you like the flavour of chocolates? I did - before now... My fingers are smelling, my clothes are sticking, my stomack is aching :) - ok ok it's not that bad...

Was great fun - T. invited one guy and seven ladies (his fault! :)) to a chocolate fabrication session at his home (his wife went out and two daughters did not join). Over 5 hours work, more than 2 charges of dirty dishes, sweet clothes and hands... And a lot of fun!!!

Our balance was over 700 pralines, white, milk and bitter chocolate, filled with everything possible (cassis, baileys, peach,...). I already gave away to my friends almost everything I took with me.

And here the best pictures of the day - yes, these are my hands!!! And no, I didn't do that specially for the picture - it was indeed the second last step in our fabrication process *lol*

- Saturday, May 20, 2006

... who could imagine that Financial Accounting can be so exciting (and so easy to understand)? :)

On Thursday, my roommate S. had a premier in the Studio Theater (a heavy play by F G Lorca "Bernarda Alba's House")

Monet exhibition opening yesterday - enjoyed the privilege to go before the official start of exhibition (the advantage of being in a donation circle :))
Learning, learning, learning the whole day (with the short swimming break), tomorrow the same, with the 1h run break!

Sorted out old papers and memorabilia - and found my very old pic! Oh my God - how young have we been!!! (Russian song) Whom am I afraid of? :)) at this picture?

Sorted out all unnecessary memberships/ subscriptions

Feel pretty done, good night!

Meetings - Monday, May 01, 2006

It started very usual: B. and me agreed to go out Saturday night (starting with 9 p.m.). Then she called and said, M. (an old paintist, great guy) wanted to invite us for a dinner. On the way to me, they met friends of M. with the little child and they of course were also invited.

The guys were great: H., about 60, a famous professor of Orientalistic, S., in my age, Persian, and their unbeleivable happy 1,5 years old daughter. Unfortunately, our great conversation was interrupted because the little lady was tired (which is normal :)) - so H. invited us three to a dinner a day after.

It was just great, I don't know how exactly our conversation started - somewhen it was current political situation, don't ask why we jumped to dialectic materialism, then Hegel, Platon (and Socrates), took the curve to Shakespeare and Marcel Proust... H. can't stand Tchaikovsky... And we ended up in the stories of our lives...

M. and me left late (B. did not feel good, so she went just after dinner), we went to his house and had a glas of wine. I love one very special painting of him - unfortunately, it looses so much of its expression in a digital form... It has a very special shine, this kind of magic that captivates you...

A bit tired... - Friday, April 28, 2006

... another tough week, and I can not run - no running sports until my leg is better. So there will remain the bycicle in a living room :). Decided to go play badminton with a friend tomorrow - I love badminton even if I can't play it properly ;o) (after a brunch in my favorite bar at Marienplatz)

Have a good feeling after the week, even if I worked until 10 p.m. yesterday and was almost the last one coming out of the office at 8.30 p.m.

...
Good night to all of you!

Daddy - Tuesday, April 25, 2006

My dad came for a visit and stayed with me 18.-24. Over weekend (21-23), I took him to Paris. Walking around, putting the three jackets on and of (am I going to do the same with 72? ;o)), sightseeing, sightseeing, sightseeing, making pics and pics (and don't underestimate the importance of having a pic in front of buildings or in settings which beauty is hidden for most of us, ordinary people ;o)))))). Anyway, I did this trip to pleasure ma dad, and in the moment he said how much he enjoyed it I felt just happy.Sent him to the Moulin Rouge late performance...

How easy it is to make somebody feel happy!Oh almost forgotten - I will stay without a car until 1st of July! So will have a fleet one from time to time, took it yesterday for the first time. I'm becoming a snob - so great to drive the 911, to feel the horse power and feel the speed!!!

*****

Will have a tough time until mid of May - having the first big system test. The team is a bit exhausted (remainings from the previous roll out, guys had almost no rest in between), incentive is needed urgently!

*****

Went running yesterday - after weeks of "I-have-no-time! So much work!" bla bla. Love movement.Still very enthusiastic about this slowing down book. Funny: just couple of months ago, my life dream was to experience as much as possible, meet as many people as I only can, feel as intensive as possible. Then it change to (and I found it really cool) "No regrets!". The funny thing on that is that you never can say this dream became true. Youcan only be sure if you failed. Meanwhile, I wish I could live conciously, "mindfully".Here some lovely pics:

The street musician at Sacre Coeur (why is it so difficult to get over the feelings? It was heartbreaking singing with horrible voice and many many wrong notes :))

Discover Paris - Saturday, April 08, 2006

Keep discovering Paris - today, with a Swiss friend of mine. Maison Victor Hugo, Maison Picasso, exhibition of Willy Ronis (photography)... I realised I got used to walking through the city, since my friend asked friendly if I still do not "feel my feet" (in German, you say it if you are tired and would love to sit down)... ;o)

Going to a Russian Cabaret tonight - probably... Not quite sure yet

Women Career Forum - Thursday, April 06, 2006

Feel like in Vietnam - just catching thoughts, no sorting out. Had a great day yesterday, somehow since my decision for EMBA, there are so many eye openings - I'm afraid I'll start beleiving in destiny.

Went to the Women Career Forum yesterday, was quite ok (and pretty relaxed for me, since I was not at all interested in company presentations or talking to HR departments of different companies - that was overcrowded!). Instead, I participated in a panell discussion with ESSEC alumni and attended two workshops. The first one was about leadership and was unbeleivable awful. I do not experience this "maß" on lack of professionalism that often... I think stupid things make me agressive. Was it News Week who published the top leaders of the last century somewhen in 2000? She brought this example to visualise that leadership is a matter of other's perception. Fact is Adolf Hitler obviously was one of the top ranked - so this poor girl seriously said "No, he was not a leader for me!" My dear, it is not about what you think and what I think, and it is not about good and bad. But if one person is followed by millions, we could accept this fact...

"If you are not perceipted by others as a leader, you will not achieve any goal" - our life is more complicated and is not only about our skills. We live in a framework of professional, society-related "game rules". Ok, enough of that!

Another workshop was a colour test. Wow, I was impressed!!! I did so many of those tests during my study and am not enthusiastic about doing one more - I know about test construction. But even knowing that, it was amazing to see the strong connection between our interpretation of colours and personal characteristics. Funny: nothing of my profile surprised me ;)

After the workshops, I met with European PWN (Professional Women Network) members - I'll definitely start it in Germany!

My dinner with M. becomes lunch today, I took the program of yesterday for her and L'Oreal gift bag (somehow, she was not accepted). Went with a French friend for a dinner.
Enough for a moment, let's experience the world!
... hours later...

My "business" lunch with M-J is over, she is a great woman! Very charismatic person...
There is no better thing in the world for me right now than sitting in a street cafe at rue Montorgueil, having a kir royal framboise (tres importante! ;o)) and catching the sun (it is about to disappear behind the old beautiful building on another side). And listening Joe Dassin... Feel just happy.

Paris, Paris...

Wednesday, April 05, 2006

I went to bed at 1 a.m. yesterday (we decided to watch the champions league game in the horrible sports bar which R. calls "the best" because his team won every time we went there :)) Even if the game was rather boring, and AC Milan played really bad, he was double happy: AC won and their "Erzrivalen" Inter lost in another game.

Anyway, I am getting old: waking up at 4 a.m., that means after whole three hours sleep, I feel like a complete wrack.

Another sign of aging: bad memory ;o). It is 10 a.m., and I am sitting in a cafe on the rue Montorgueil, had a grand creme and a tartine - and just feel happy! Have the latest Pariscop on my legs and checking "what's going on" ;)

I just love this city... How many times have I been here since October last year? Wow, it is my sevenths time!!! No wonder that the nice old couple running the hotel I always stay in gives me a room with shower even if they all were booked out...

My friends from Stuttgart (oops! and from Zurich :)) whom I stayd together in Paris

School again - Saturday, April 01, 2006

Yesterday, I received the Welcome Pack from the IESE Business School (http://www.iese.edu/en/Programs/GEMBA/GlobalExecutiveMBA.asp)! My class begins on 8th of June - the first 2,5 weeks in Barcelona! There are many things to settled before the first two weeks residentual module in Barcelona, and there are a couple of decisions to be taken, but I am very enthusiastic about it and looking forward to meeting my new class mates :)

Without Title :) - Saturday, April 01, 2006

OK, it took me about an hour to choose the blog design (colours - yes, gentlemen, it can take a lady an hour to decide - and she is still not perfectly happy ;))

I'm feeling a bit better (was seeck starting with Tuesday, could not speak from Wednesday on - so my colleagues in the office were irritated to experience me dumb... "Ilona, how is it called, what you currently have?" - asked one. "Write me down, I think my wife will be happy to have it, too!" *lol*)

Anyway, I do not have in mind to go to bed! I'm in a mood to dig into old letters, memorabilia and pictures... Last Sunday, I sorted out my papers and discovered sweet letters from sweet guys who wrote me more than 10 (!!!) years ago - unbeleivable!
It's 1 a.m. already, so I am approaching my bed... Some pics are uploaded (but it took hours!!!

So slowly - or I just didn't get how to do it ;)))

Good night!

Just Do It?

Friday, March 31 2006

I'm happy I finally started this blog and forgot my literary ambitions ;). A place for my thoughts, impressions, experiences, memories (or a lack of those...)

Let's see if I will enjoy it, if this blog will give me the space for slowing down and reflect upon all the things that happened or are about to happen in my life and if I will still be excited by the idea of writing (instead of experiencing) in a couple of days/ weeks/ months...By the way, I have a German blog site for about half a year, it still consists of the two entries from my Paris trip I created right away after registration. And I did not want to write because it costs time - and I could miss an experience... I wanted more and more from life, and it was very exciting, and I loved all the things that happened... I should s l o w d o w n :)
